Since 2018, he has presided over the Organization of Dentistry Faculties, Schools, and Departments in Latin America and the Caribbean. Dr. Cordero has dedicated more than 20 years to the Children Who Laugh Foundation , leading surgical missions to treat cleft lip and palate in children. He is an honorary member of the Society of Maxillofacial Surgery of Venezuela, an honorary citizen of the Province of Espaillat, and has been honored by the Hispanic Dental Association for his distinguished professional career. He subsequentlyobtained his MDent in 2005 and a PhD in 2019. AFellow of the College of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery since 2003, he is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand. Prof. Rikhotso has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research at numerous international conferences. His research interests focus on total temporomandibular joint reconstruction, head and neck oncology, craniofacial trauma, and the treatment of condylar fractures. He is also actively involved in mentoring the next generation of surgeons and contributes to the development of innovative surgical techniques.
