Understand the pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and its systemic health consequences.
Identify appropriate patient selection criteria for surgical management of OSA.
Review indications for sleep surgery and how it fits within the broader OSA treatment algorithm.
Differentiate between various sleep surgery procedures based on anatomical sites of airway obstruction.
Recognize the role of diagnostic tools such as drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) in surgical planning.
Evaluate outcomes, limitations, and risks of sleep surgery in the management of OSA.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Robson Capasso is the Chief of Sleep Surgery, Professor of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, Associate Dean of Research at Stanford University School of Medicine and Advisor to the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign. His medical training includes Head and Neck Surgery, Neurosciences and Sleep Medicine.
