About the event

This session provides an in-depth look at distraction osteogenesis (DO) — a biological bone lengthening and reconstruction technique widely used in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Papadaki explores the principles, clinical applications, and evolving role of DO in addressing maxillofacial skeletal deficiencies. The lecture highlights how controlled, gradual separation of bone segments stimulates new bone and soft-tissue formation, making distraction osteogenesis a valuable tool for correcting congenital deformities, traumatic defects, and complex skeletal discrepancies in the jaw and midface.
