Priti Udhay: Approaches to the Orbit

The talk focuses on key principles and techniques used to access different orbital compartments safely and effectively for trauma repair, tumor removal, decompression, and reconstruction. Approaching the orbit surgically requires careful planning and understanding of multiple possible access routes (e.g., transconjunctival, subciliary, lateral orbitotomy) tailored to the location of pathology while minimizing risk to vision and surrounding tissues. The session also highlights the role of advanced tools such as computer-assisted navigation to enhance surgical precision in intricate cases.

Dr. Priti Udhay will share different approaches to the orbit and the surgical technique of a cystic schwannoma excision through an aesthetic scar in the superior lid crease using HD resolution and recording from a microscope. The large tumour compressed the superior rectus. The frontal nerve could be separated from the lesion and the rectus function preserved.
