Describe the anatomical and biomechanical principles underlying the use of zygomatic implants in the rehabilitation of the severely atrophic maxilla.
Identify appropriate indications and patient selection criteria for zygomatic implants as an alternative to conventional implant techniques.
Outline the surgical protocols and techniques involved in zygomatic implant placement.
Recognize potential intraoperative and postoperative complications associated with zygomatic implants and strategies for their prevention and management.
Evaluate prosthetic considerations and loading protocols to achieve optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes.
Integrate zygomatic implants into comprehensive treatment planning for complex maxillofacial rehabilitation cases.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr Pynadath George BDS, MFDS RCS, MSc Rest Dent, MSc Imp Dent, DClinDent Oral Surgery, FellowCG Dent
Dr George is a specialist Oral Surgeon and has a practice limited to complex dental implants. He is a graduate of Liverpool Dental University Hospital and since then has completed a Professional Doctorate and specialist training in Oral Surgery from the University of Edinburgh. His research topic was on the rehabilitation of the severely atrophic maxilla.
Through his career he has also completed a Masters Degree in Restorative Dentistry in 2011 from The Eastman Dental Institute, UCL, in London and a separate Master’s degree in Dental Implantology in 2013 from Warwick University. The thesis topic was zygomatic versus pterygoid implants.
Dr George had been teaching in the hospital for over a decade as well as mentoring and providing advanced Full Arch Implant Courses since 2013. During this time he has trained numerous dentists both in the UK and Internationally.
Dr George is currently the President Elect of the Association of Dental Implantology.
