Thomas Dodson: Writing a Scientific Paper Is Not Rocket Science!

TALK INFO

In this instructive and practical webinar, Dr. Thomas B. Dodson, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, breaks down the scientific writing process into clear, manageable steps that make producing a publishable manuscript feel far less daunting than it seems. Drawing on his extensive editorial experience with one of the leading journals in the specialty, Dr. Dodson shares his personal writing workflow, common pitfalls to avoid, and a set of practical principles and “aphorisms” to guide authors through manuscript preparation — from crafting a compelling introduction and clear methods to presenting results logically and writing a meaningful discussion.

The session is designed to help clinicians, researchers, and trainees improve their scientific communication by emphasizing clarity, structure, and strategic thinking, with examples showing how effective scientific papers are organized and reviewed by journals. It demystifies the publication process and empowers participants to approach writing with confidence and purpose
