  1. Understand the pathophysiology and progression of temporomandibular joint degeneration and its implications for orthognathic surgery.

  2. Identify appropriate indications and contraindications for orthognathic surgery in patients with degenerative joint disease.

  3. Review diagnostic and imaging strategies for assessing joint status and surgical risk.

  4. Describe surgical planning considerations and technique modifications to minimize joint deterioration and relapse.

  5. Apply perioperative and long-term management strategies to optimize functional stability and patient outcomes.
