TITLE

Shubhra Chauhan: Mandible Preservation vs. Resection in Oral Cancer: Making the Right Choice

TALK INFO

In the field of oral cancer treatment, Dr. Shubhra Chauhan’s exploration of mandible preservation versus resection presents a crucial decision-making crossroads for clinicians. Mandible preservation aims to maintain as much of the jawbone as possible, potentially offering patients better functional and aesthetic outcomes, and supporting their overall quality of life. Conversely, mandible resection, while often necessary to ensure complete removal of malignancy, can lead to significant postoperative challenges, including impaired speech and mastication, as well as altered facial appearance. Dr. Chauhan’s analysis emphasizes the need for a tailored approach, weighing the benefits of preserving mandibular integrity against the necessity of aggressive cancer control. This balanced perspective guides clinicians in making informed choices that align with both the clinical requirements of cancer eradication and the patient's long-term well-being.
