ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Ambika Chadha is a dual-qualified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical (OMFS) Specialist with a sub-specialty interest in Cleft Lip and Palate and Craniofacial Surgery. She obtained her Medical Degree from the University of Oxford (Class I) and her Dental Degree from King’s College London (proxime accessit to the Gold medal). She holds a Diploma in Head and Neck Surgery (DOHNS) and has written her PhD thesis in 3D morphometric analysis of Cleft Lip for which she was simultaneously awarded Research Fellowships from both the Royal College of Surgeons and its Faculty of Dental Surgery, as well as a Winston Churchill Memorial Travel Fellowship. After securing her FRCS (OMFS) and Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) in 2022, Ambika was then awarded the (only) National post-CCT Training Interface Group (TIG) Fellowship in Cleft Lip and Palate awarded that year. She undertook cleft training full-time for two years and immediately followed this with a dedicated full-time Fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery – her current post at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Ambika sits on the Research Steering Committee for the CLEFT charity and is passionate about teaching and research. She is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Healthcare Technology and Systems Engineering at the University of Cambridge being especially impassioned by the impact of AI-enabled innovation and it's potential to redress Global inequalities in Cleft outcomes.
