TITLE

Deborah Gomez Kwolek: Precision Medicine in Surgery: Biological Factors That Shape Surgical Outcomes

TALK INFO

Why do similar operations lead to dramatically different outcomes in seemingly comparable patients? This lecture explores how biological variability - including hormonal status, menopause-related changes, metabolic factors, and molecular pathways - shapes surgical risk, wound healing, pain, infection, and long-term recovery. Using current evidence and clinical case examples, the session highlights how menopause and hormonal transitions influence perioperative outcomes and offers practical strategies to individualize surgical planning and postoperative care. Surgeons will gain actionable insights to optimize patient safety, enhance recovery, and improve outcomes through precision-driven surgical care.
