< Back Global Multidisciplinary Research Opportunity – Rare Tumors Apply Now Job Location Location Let’s MATCH, to improve patient care, thru research! A quarter of cancers are rare, defined as less than 40,000 cases/yr in US. Troulis’ research is focused on R efractory A typical R esistant E xceptionallyrare — RARE - tumors. The index or focus tumor being clear cell odontogenic carcinoma (CCOC) of the jaw and clear cell carcinoma of the salivary gland (CCC), (August2003, Guastaldi2019, Desai2021, Rivera 2021, Weil2022). CCOC is an E xceptionally rare tumor with approximately 135 published cases to date. These tumors have translocations in the EWSR1::CREB1 gene fusion/ family of transcription factors. It is a global collaboration with the core group being Drs Troulis , Faquin, Iafrate, Rivera, Ben Peled et al., MGH/MGB/Harvard. Ongoing studies include profiling, and search of possible surrogates. The role of the clear cells and genetic mutations, EWSR1:: CREB1 are of great interest to identify, understand and provide target treatment with small molecules and radiation-sparing long term surveillance.
