In this lecture, Dr. Tara L. Rosenberg provides an in-depth exploration of cleft care with a focus on velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI) from an otolaryngological perspective. Dr. Rosenberg discusses the multidisciplinary approach to treatment, emphasizing surgical and non-surgical interventions, and offers practical insights into managing the challenges faced by patients with cleft-related speech and airway issues. This session is invaluable for otolaryngologists involved in the care of pediatric and adult patients with cleft palate and associated conditions.


SPEAKER: Dr. Tara Rosenberg MD, FACS, FAAP, is the Surgical Director of the Vascular Anomalies Center at Texas Children’s Hospital and an Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine. Her clinical expertise includes vascular anomalies, cleft lip and palate surgery, medical laser use, and velopharyngeal dysfunction/insufficiency. Dr. Rosenberg is an active member of both the Cleft and Vascular Anomalies Teams at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Recently board-certified in Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology, Dr. Rosenberg was part of the inaugural class for this certification. She is also passionate about teaching and medical education, training the next generation of pediatric otolaryngologists.
