About the event
Functional Rehabilitation of the Orofacial Complex – The Reconstructive Finish Line Including Implants is a comprehensive session led by Stacey Nedrud, focusing on the critical final phase of maxillofacial reconstruction: restoring function, esthetics, and quality of life. This lecture explores the multidisciplinary integration of surgical reconstruction and implant-based prosthetic rehabilitation in patients with complex orofacial defects resulting from trauma, oncologic resection, or congenital conditions. Participants will gain insight into treatment sequencing, implant planning in reconstructed bone (including fibula and other free flaps), occlusal considerations, and prosthetic design strategies that optimize speech, mastication, and facial harmony. Emphasis is placed on collaborative care between surgeons and restorative teams to achieve predictable, patient-centered outcomes that truly represent the reconstructive “finish line.”
