The management of tooth loss has evolved dramatically over the past decade, driven by advances in digital dentistry, artificial intelligence, surgical planning, guided implantology, and patient-specific treatment workflows. Today's clinicians have unprecedented opportunities to improve precision, predictability, and patient outcomes through digitally integrated treatment approaches.

In this lecture, Dr. Pierre Lahoud will explore current concepts and clinical applications in the digital planning and surgical treatment of tooth loss. Participants will gain insights into contemporary diagnostic workflows, digital treatment planning, implant placement strategies, hard and soft tissue considerations, and emerging technologies that are reshaping implant dentistry and oral rehabilitation.

Drawing from his clinical, academic, and research experience in periodontology, implantology, artificial intelligence, and patient-specific surgical modeling, Dr. Lahoud will demonstrate how digital tools can enhance clinical decision-making while maintaining a patient-centered approach to treatment.

SPEAKER

Dr. Pierre Lahoud DDS, MSc, PgD, PhD is a specialist in periodontology, implantology, and muco-gingival surgery with advanced training from the European Federation of Periodontology and a Master of Science degree from KU Leuven. He earned his PhD at KU Leuven, where his research focused on artificial intelligence, biomechanical modeling, and the development of patient-specific approaches to oral surgical procedures.

He serves as Visiting Professor in the Department of Conservative Dentistry, Periodontology and Digital Dentistry at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and is a Principal Investigator for benchmarking activities within the Global Initiative on AI for Health in Geneva, Switzerland. He is also a Scientific Committee Board Member of the Digital Dentistry Society.

Dr. Lahoud has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications and book chapters and has lectured extensively at national and international meetings. His work bridges clinical practice, digital innovation, and artificial intelligence, helping shape the future of patient-specific oral healthcare. He has received numerous national and international awards recognizing his contributions to research, education, and clinical excellence.
