About the event

Severe maxillary atrophy no longer means limited options. This session reveals how remote anchorage—using advanced implant strategies in the zygoma and pterygoid region—can transform treatment possibilities for edentulous patients. Learn how to push beyond traditional boundaries and deliver stable, functional, and predictable outcomes in even the most challenging cases.

SPEAKER:

Nicolas Homsi, DDS, is a Clinical Associate Professor at Marquette University School of Dentistry, where his academic and clinical work focuses on advanced implant rehabilitation of the edentulous maxilla. His expertise centers on remote anchorage techniques, including the use of zygomatic and pterygoid implants, to address severe maxillary atrophy and expand treatment options for patients with limited conventional solutions. Through his teaching, research, and international lectures, Dr. Homsi has established himself as a leader in translating complex surgical concepts into predictable, evidence-based clinical practice.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

After this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the anatomical and biomechanical foundations that make remote anchorage possible.

  2. Recognize which edentulous maxilla cases benefit most from zygomatic and pterygoid anchorage.

  3. Compare remote anchorage approaches with conventional implant strategies in compromised bone.

  4. Integrate evidence-based techniques to maximize stability while reducing complications.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This activity is tailored for oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, prosthodontists, implantologists, and dental specialists seeking advanced strategies for managing the edentulous maxilla.
