About the event
We are honored to invite you to a compelling and insightful talk by Dr. Miguel de la Parra, a leading expert in reconstructive microsurgery. In this session, Dr. de la Parra will take us on a journey through 15 years of surgical experience, sharing his evolution in technique, decision-making, and innovation in microsurgical reconstruction of the head and neck.
Drawing from a vast clinical repertoire, Dr. de la Parra will present real-world cases, highlight key milestones, and discuss the nuanced challenges of restoring form and function in complex oncologic and traumatic defects. His reflections will offer both inspiration and practical value to surgeons working at the intersection of precision, aesthetics, and patient rehabilitation.
Whether you are a seasoned surgeon or early in your training, this talk promises valuable insights into mastering microsurgical reconstruction in some of the most demanding anatomical regions.
SPEAKER: Dr. Miguel de la Parra is a distinguished plastic and reconstructive surgeon with over 15 years of experience in complex microsurgical procedures, particularly in the field of head and neck reconstruction. He currently serves as a senior microsurgeon and professor at the Highly Specialized Medical Unit (UMAE No. 21) of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Monterrey, where he has trained and mentored numerous surgical residents and fellows.
Dr. de la Parra earned his medical degree Magna Cum Laude from the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila and completed his general surgery residency at UMAE No. 25 IMSS. He then specialized in plastic and reconstructive surgery at UMAE No. 21 and went on to pursue advanced training in microsurgery and breast reconstruction at the Universitair Ziekenhuis in Ghent, Belgium.
With a surgical practice grounded in precision, innovation, and patient-centered care, Dr. de la Parra has performed a wide range of complex reconstructions—including facial trauma, craniofacial anomalies, and microsurgical free tissue transfers. He is a board-certified member of the Mexican Council of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery and an active participant in national and international academic forums.
In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. de la Parra is involved in research and has contributed to studies on craniosynostosis and microsurgical technique optimization. He is a sought-after speaker and has presented at major congresses such as the Annual International Meeting of the Mexican Association of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery (AMCPER).
