In his talk, Personal Journey in Plastic Surgery: Reconstruction to Revelations, Dr. Gordon Lee will share his unique and inspiring path through the field of plastic surgery. From his early academic accomplishments at UCLA and Stanford, to his groundbreaking work in microsurgery and reconstructive procedures, Dr. Lee will reflect on key moments that shaped his career. Highlighting his leadership in pioneering surgical techniques, such as the first combined abdominal wall and small bowel transplant in the Western United States, he will discuss how his experiences have informed both his clinical practice and research. Dr. Lee will also explore his significant contributions to surgical education, mentoring the next generation of plastic surgeons, and his ongoing commitment to advancing the field through leadership roles in prominent medical organizations.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify advanced microsurgical techniques and reconstructive procedures utilized in the reconstruction of the face, breast, extremities, and abdominal wall, with a focus on clinical outcomes and patient care.

Dr. Gordon Lee, Professor of Plastic Surgery at UC Irvine, former Vice-Chief of Clinical Affairs at Stanford University, and President-Elect of the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, is a renowned expert in reconstructive microsurgery with over 190 peer-reviewed publications and numerous leadership roles in surgical education and research.
