Delia Van Vuuren : Restorative Challenges: When the Fibula is the Mandible

This session, led by Delia van Vuuren, will explore the complexities of mandibular reconstruction using fibula free flaps. Participants will gain insight into the surgical planning, technical execution, and multidisciplinary considerations required to restore both function and aesthetics in patients with mandibular defects. Emphasis will be placed on preoperative planning, flap contouring, occlusion management, and soft tissue reconstruction, as well as strategies to anticipate and manage complications.
