Distraction osteogenesis has evolved into a widely employed technique for expanding maxillofacial skeletal structures, encompassing symmetric and asymmetric elongation in the vertical, sagittal, and transverse dimensions and has established itself as a standard approach for addressing congenital deformities, such as craniofacial (hemifacial) microsomia, Treacher Collins syndrome, Nager syndrome, midface hypoplasia resulting from cleft lip/palate, and syndromic craniosynostosis especially in deficiencies that necessitate advancement exceeding 10 mm.
