About the Event

WHAT IS THIS EVENT ABOUT?

Childhood adversity is one of the most common and impactful social determinants of mental and physical disease across the lifespan. Yet, few measures exist to record such adverse life experiences. In this talk, Dr. Dunn will summarize her research team’s work using children’s baby teeth as biomarkers of exposure to stressful life events during prenatal and perinatal life. She will also discuss how insights gained from baby teeth can be used to help identify children at greatest risk for health problems in the future and how such insights can guide novel prevention programming.

SPEAKER: Erin C. Dunn, ScD, MPH, Associate Professor, Psychiatric and Neurodevelopmental Genetics Unit, Center for Genomic Medicine, Harvard Medical School.
