About the event
Benign neoplasms in pediatric patients present unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenges that differ significantly from adult tumor management. Growth potential, anatomical development, functional preservation, and psychosocial considerations all influence treatment decisions. In this focused clinical session, Dr. Fernando Lima explores contemporary approaches to the diagnosis and management of pediatric benign neoplasms, emphasizing practical surgical decision-making and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The lecture will review common presentations, imaging strategies, differential diagnosis, and indications for intervention versus observation. Particular attention will be given to timing of treatment in growing patients, balancing oncologic safety with functional and aesthetic outcomes. Surgical techniques, risk management, and long-term follow-up considerations will also be addressed, providing insights that support safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Designed for surgeons seeking clinically relevant guidance, this session combines evidence-based principles with real-world experience to enhance confidence when managing these cases. Participants will gain valuable perspectives on optimizing outcomes while minimizing morbidity in pediatric populations.
Whether you regularly treat pediatric patients or encounter these cases occasionally, this lecture offers practical knowledge, updated concepts, and expert insights to support thoughtful, informed surgical care for young patients with benign neoplasms.
